Event Recording Policy

Purpose
To establish standard guidelines for significant academic and historical William Jewell College and College-sponsored event audio and audiovisual recordings.
Policy
I. The Office of College Relations and Marketing will provide audio or audiovisual recordings for the following events on an annual basis:
- The Perspectives on the Common Good Lecture Series
- The Peggy Kern Lecture on Women and Society;
- The Cope Lecture on Science, Technology and the Human Experience;
- The Everett P. Truex Economic & Financial Forum;
- The Walter Pope Binns Lecture on the Sacred and Secular;
- The Distinguished Executive Lecture in Business and Leadership
- The Carl F. Willard Distinguished Teacher Lecture
- Opening Convocation
- Achievement Day Convocation
- May Baccalaureate and Commencement
II. Individual college departments are responsible for arranging necessary resources for department-specific and department-sponsored events, including but not limited to the following:
- Student Organization Events
- Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony
- The Smith Lectures in Contemporary Jewish Life and Thought
- Department of Education Master’s Hooding Ceremony
- Department of Music Senior Recitals
- Athletic Events
- Jewell Theatre Performances
III. Other special or signature events that are deemed significant for academic or historical purposes by the Cabinet or College Relations may be audio or video recorded with at least one week’s notice. Recording of these events will be at the discretion of the Office of College Relations and Marketing and the Office of Advancement with consideration of available resources.
IV. Curry Library Services shall retain a digital copy of annually recorded events and will retain a copy of the Speaker Release Agreement as provided by the Office of Advancement. Curry Library Services will be the primary point of contact to gain access to event recordings for academic and historical purposes.
