Cory Washington, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor Psychological Science

Dr. Washington holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas and is trained in social psychology. He studies motivation and interest with an eye to create interventions to help people in their goal-pursuits. His work leverages conceptual metaphor theory (i.e., that metaphor is more than a figure of speech but a tool for thought that helps us understand complex and abstract concepts) as a lens to create metaphor-framed messages to increase interest in STEM pursuit, healthy behaviors, and increasing diversity.
