Eleanor "Lea" Skelton, Ph.D.

Dr. Skelton, P.E., specializes in geotechnical engineering including modeling and full-scale experimental testing. Prior to joining the faculty at Jewell, Dr. Skelton worked for over seven years as a geotechnical engineer where she developed site exploration plans, determined soil properties and designed foundations, performed geohazard surveys for pipelines and evaluated interstate highway projects for potential landslides, to name a few. During this time, she was the geotechnical engineer of record for more than 50 projects. Her teaching interests include geotechnical engineering, foundation design, civil engineering materials and laboratory-based interactive learning.
