The College recognizes the following paid holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving (3 days), Christmas/New Year’s (7-8 days) Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day.
The approved holiday schedule will be announced each year at the beginning of the fall semester. Should a holiday fall on a weekend, the holiday will be observed on the work day closest to the holiday. Student Life and Facilities Management staff schedules may vary in accordance with departmental guidelines and responsibilities.
Benefit eligible employees on a twelve month schedule will be paid their regular rate of pay for the holiday. Benefit eligible employees scheduled less than 2,080 hours will be paid a proportionate amount based on their scheduled hours.
Some departments must operate with a minimum of staff on observed holidays. Regular staff who are scheduled to work on an observed holiday period will receive one and one-half times pay for all hours actually worked, plus regular holiday pay at straight time.
Leave during student recesses may be allowed by the supervisor provided such leave is charged to earned vacation. Special religious holidays may be observed using personal leave or leave without pay with the advance approval of the supervisor.
No holiday pay is granted when it immediately proceeds the first day of employment, occurs during a leave without pay, or occurs before, during or immediately following terminal vacation. An employee must work the day before and the day after a holiday or use accrued vacation, personal or sick time to receive pay for the holiday.
