The Kansas City-based William T. Kemper Foundation – Commerce Bank, Trustee approved a grant of $2.5 million for William Jewell College’s Link project. The gift release is contingent on Jewell successfully meeting the grant challenge issued by the Sunderland Foundation of Kansas City and the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Link Project is a more than $20 million investment in a multipurpose facility for health, wellness, fitness, athletics and community as well as outdoor gathering spaces, an art walk, access improvements and a new amphitheater stadium.

A valued, long-time partner of William Jewell College, the Kemper Foundation has supported numerous academic initiatives, arts programming and aesthetic enhancements, including the civil engineering degree program and labs, student scholarships, Pryor Learning Commons building project, hillside beautification project and the Harriman-Jewell performing arts series.

“Having a local partner with a storied history of building community and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives is inspiring for the final fund-raising phase of The Link Project, also designed to invigorate community and provide a dynamic student experience,” said Sarah Rowland, Jewell Trustee and project supporter. “With this gift, the Kemper Foundation furthers William Jewell College’s pursuit as a vibrant and flourishing campus that invests in mind, body and spirit.”
