U.S. News & World Report names Jewell to 2025 Best Colleges

11/20/2024

After analyzing nearly 1,500 colleges and universities, U.S. News and World Report named William Jewell College to its 2025 Best Colleges:

  • No. 9 (tie): Best Regional Colleges Midwest
  • No. 14: Best Value Schools

Of the 94 schools in the 12-state Midwest regional category, Jewell ranked as the No. 14 Best Value College. Best Value Schools are determined by a college’s academic quality alongside the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.

Jewell tied at No. 9 overall in the Best Midwest Colleges category. To place more emphasis on social mobility and outcomes, new factors were added last year, including first-generation graduation rates, first-generation graduation rate performance and proportion of college graduates earning more income than a high school graduate. U.S. News also evaluated factors such as peer assessment, graduation rates for Pell students, first-year retention, financial resources, student-faculty ratio and others.

This marks U.S. News & World Report’s 91st year to rank colleges and universities. Review the overall rankings and methodology here.
