Bereavement Leave Policy

Absence from work because of death in the immediate family may be excused without loss of pay to a maximum of three (3) days per death. The immediate family includes the employee’s spouse, parents, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, step-children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law and grandchildren.
Bereavement time while the employee is on sick leave or vacation shall be considered as bereavement and not charged against accrued sick leave or vacation.
The employee must notify their supervisor about the need for bereavement leave as soon as possible. Staff members will report their bereavement leave through Paycor.
The Office of Human Resources will assist the employee with any applicable life insurance claim forms.
