William Jewell strives to be as inclusive as possible to students of all gender identities and gender expressions. All students are welcome to take advantage of a gender-inclusive environment. In the instance where a student wishes to be publicly known as a different name and/or gender, the student may submit the E-Trieve Change of Name in Use & Gender Identity form.
Once the form is reviewed and accepted, where legally appropriate as determined by the College, College records will be changed to reflect the student’s new gender and/or name, including the student’s e-mail address. The student will be eligible to receive a new student ID with a new picture and name. If desired by the student, the Student Life Office will notify relevant faculty and staff members.
Students are expected to facilitate the use of their preferred name and gender by updating their online student profiles, where able, and notify the Student Life Office of any questions/concerns related to name or gender change. William Jewell will work with each individual student on a case-by-case basis to determine and provide the appropriate arrangements.
The College will change names on certain records only when proof of legal name change is provided: transcripts, payroll documents, financial aid records, enrollment and degree verification records, and documents where the student’s legal name is required by law or College policy. The College reserves the right to deny or remove, with or without notice, a preferred name in cases of misuse, such as misrepresentation, attempts to avoid legal obligations, use of derogatory names.
