Athletic Scholarships: NCAA DIVISION II
As a proud member of NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Valley Conference, William Jewell College embraces the “partial-scholarship” model of the Division II philosophy for financial aid in which many student-athletes’ college experiences are funded in part through a combination of academic scholarships, athletics scholarship and need-based grants as appropriate. Limitations may apply to the receipt of a combination of these scholarships and grants provided by the college. Athletics scholarships are awarded upon the recommendation of the head coach. SPIRIT TEAM (Talent Scholarships)
What does “Limitations may apply to the receipt of a combination of these scholarships and grants provided by the college” mean?
When the Jewell Athletic Department offers verbal scholarships, agents of the College may not be aware of a student's comprehensive academic background because verbal offers may be extended as soon as the summer prior to the junior year of high school. Because these offers may be made well before a student is officially admitted, a total value offer includes all institutional scholarship, including athletic scholarship, academic scholarship and other select awards listed above. Once a student is admitted, the total value is then distributed (as applicable) amongst the various programs.
